Alex Rafferty
Alexandra (BA(Hons), MA) is a qualified ORIGINS Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator, who trained under Joan Davis, and is based in County Clare. She is committed to creating a safe and compassionate space, to support clients in their own individual process. Alex offers one-on-one sessions, in person and online, and facilitates somatic movement workshops and classes.
Her approach is rooted in trauma-informed practices, incorporating techniques for nervous system regulation, talk therapy, attachment trauma repair, authentic movement, and developmental movement patterns. She also draws from Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and Body-Mind Centering in her hands-on techniques.
In her workshops she integrates Somatic practices and art, fostering embodiment and self-expression. Passionate about nature, she is interested in a deeper connection to our natural environment through movement, listening and stillness.Her academic background includes degrees in Contemporary Dance and Choreography (BA Hons) and Art and Design (MA), along with qualifications as a Yoga instructor and Women's Pelvic Floor Health Facilitator (BEBO-Germany).She regularly attends supervision and continued professional development and is ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association) codes of ethics compliant.She lives in West Clare with her husband and 3 children.
